Please be aware that from late October 2025 until further notice we expect small delays in all services between Airlie Beach and Whitsunday Coast Airport due to much need upgrades and flood prevention works on Hamilton Plains.
You will see the area marked on our map image on this page. Speed limits in this zone are reduces to 60km/h with ongoing traffic control in place until works are complete around mid 2026.
The purpose of these roadworks is to raise the road surface and improve drainage. During the tropical wet season from around October to April each year heavy rains cause this road to flood stopping all access between Airlie Beach and Proserpine which includes the Whitsunday Coast Airport. Once complete we expect this will improve future potential delays ensuring smooth travel for everyone.
During this time we will continue to monitor the time duration for airport transfers and keep our customers informormed of any requirements to depart earlier to make it to your depariting flight with time to space. We thank you for your patience in advance.
